The Statute of Liberty was a gift to the United states from the people of France on October 28, 1886. The statute was assembled in France on July 4, 1884 and later disassembled, crated and shipped to the US after the completion of it's pedestal on Liberty Island in New York Harbor.
Getting to the Statute of Liberty by berry is easy from either New York or New Jersey.
