Are you planning a day trip? Consider a few hours on the farm apple picking in NJ. It is educational, fun and good for the stomach. New Jersey is the “garden State” and we have many wonderful farms that provide top quality produce as well as farm visits. One such farm is the Terhune Orchard located in Princeton NJ. Here you can pick your own apples, Pumpkins strawberries and more ( depending upon the season .. of course)

The Terhune farm is a fully functional farm that has a cozy shop where you can purchase fresh produce grown on the 150 acre farm as well as fresh baked goods,cheeses, milk, jams , jellies, cider and more. They grow about 35 crops and even have flowers and plants for sale.

Visit the 31th Annual Cranberry Festival

Celebrate  New Jersey’s cranberry harvest this year. This year the 31th Annual Cranberry Festival will be held October 18th and 19th in downtown Chatsworth NJ.  The festival hours are corm 9am to 4pm each day.

There will be an Antique and Classic Automobile Show from 9am to 4pm on Sunday show with over 100 automobiles. In addition there will be over 35 Antique Dealers with articles from the period. Don’t forget that breakfast is being served at the firehouse 🙂

Watchung Stables has public trail rides scheduled for weekends during July. The public trail rides are being held on Saturdays and Sundays at 1:00pm or 2:00pm on a first come first serve basis. Participants must be at least 9 years old.

The stable also offers private rides for individuals or groups of up top 15 people.

Hey Folks, New Jersey is known as the Garden State. With great access to many local farms , there is little excuse for not getting out to pick your own from time to time. In other words, whether you have your own garden or not, there are many farms in NJ that allow you to pick your own fruits and vegetables. A visit to these farms is a perfect day trip for the entire family offering a variety of activities and entertainment even for non-pickers.

Go to a Rodeo in NJ

Yes folks, you can go to a rodeo in NJ. That is right, here in the Garden State. If you are looking for a fun family activity or day trip consider the rodeo.

Rodeos are held at Cowtown Rodeo every Saturday night at 7:30pm from the end of May through the end of September. The gates open at 6:00pm and tickets are available at the door. So you still have time to experience a rodeo this summer

Did you know about New Jersey’s Largest Sunflower Maze? Make this a stop on your on one of your day trips to the Delaware water gap or one of the many surrounding state parks.

New Jersey’s Largest Sunflower Maze is located in Sussex County is open from 10 – 6pm. The maze is operated by Roseline’s Farm & Bakery, so you can take a walk and enjoy the amazing scenery and perhaps and adventurous walk through the sunflower maze.

Make sure to visit Roseline’s Farm & Bakery across the read for some really great “eats” made of some of the best natural ingredients available.
